LAC-CORE Mission: to bring renewable energy and energy efficiency (RE/EE) into the mainstream of the Latin American and Caribbean regions with regard to their economy, industry, trade, government, environment, and climate change. By optimizing domestic energy resources with commercially-available energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies -- the countries within the hemisphere can reduce imports of fossil fuels and minimize fuel cost fluctuations, reduce emissions causing changes in global climate and harming human health, and significantly increase local employment and economic growth -- making the Americas a model for hemispheric cooperation; and contribute to the "Greening of the Americas" campaign.
LAC-CORE Function: LAC-CORE will operate as a convening resource and platform in the region through the organization of events, conferences, webinars, seminars, workshops, forums, and trade shows. These events will promote the development of productive and sustainable renewable energy projects while encouraging key relationships with energy leaders, multinational agencies, businesses and public interest groups. The purpose of these activities is to highlight regional projects that are underway, as well as providing visibility for commercialized RE technologies for specific projects or regions. There will be a focus on locating funding, investments, and other areas of support for these projects. LAC-CORE will track their progress using the LAC-CORE website and other resources to quantify sustainability of RE projects.
The RTE/LAC-CORE Relationship: RTE is the founding member of LAC-CORE and both organizations have shared lasting managerial connections. Furthermore RTE is a certified 501c3 organization accepting tax deductible contributions; RTE's official collection of LAC-CORE membership dues allows it to extend these same befits to LAC-CORE members!
